An important lesson learnt due to failure to report those radicalised

SMU Behavioural Sciences Institute Director Professor David Chan commented that authorities alone cannot solve the problem of radicalisation and terrorism. He suggested that individuals need to be aware, and help each other be aware, of the following three important things: (1) Highlight the consequences involved are very severe if a radicalised individual launches an attack or assist some terrorist to launch one; (2) Think about the regret we will feel from not reporting, if that attack were to take place; and (3) Focus on the positive difference that we will make by reporting.
