Applications from Behavioural Sciences

In this regular section on Applications from Behavioural Sciences, we feature recent commentary articles by BSI Director David Chan, published in The Straits Times, on issues of social cohesion, social integration and societal goals in Singapore. In a two-part article, which was also featured in Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Facebook, Professor Chan analysed the challenges of cohesion (The 5Cs Challenges of Cohesion) and proposed several ways to manage integration (Five Cs to Manage Integration). In another article published in August 2012, which was a reaction to the National Day Rally speeches by Prime Minister Lee and his three Ministers, Professor Chan discussed the issues of Singapore’s future and the outcomes and processes relating to achieving societal goals (The goals matter, so does the journey).
