PROFESSOR ARNOUD DE MEYER
President
Singapore Management University

Professor Arnoud De Meyer is President of the Singapore Management University. He has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, MBA and PhD in Management from the University of Ghent in Belgium. Previously, he was Director of Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. He has held various senior positions at INSEAD including the founding Dean of INSEAD’s Asia Campus in Singapore. He publishes widely in academic journals and books. He has consulted for organisations in Europe and Asia and serves as board member for various organisations in Singapore.

PROFESSOR DAVID CHAN
Director, Behavioural Sciences Institute
Lee Kuan Yew Fellow, Singapore Management University

Professor David Chan is Lee Kuan Yew Fellow, Professor of Psychology & Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute at the Singapore Management University and Adjunct Principal Scientist at A*STAR. He has received numerous international awards on scientific contributions. His works have been cited more than 3000 times in journals and books in various disciplines. He has served as Editor or board member on numerous journals. He is consultant or board member to various organisations in the public, private and people sectors both locally and internationally. He is Elected Fellow of four international psychological associations.

PROFESSOR CHAN HENG CHEE
Chairman, Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities
Singapore University of Technology and Design

Professor Chan Heng Chee is Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities in the Singapore University of Technology and Design and the National Arts Council and a member of the Presidential Council for Minority Rights. She was the founding Director of the Institute of Policy Studies. She has served as Ambassador to the United States and Mexico, Permanent Representative to the United Nations and High Commissioner to Canada. She is recipient of numerous awards from Singapore, Australia, United Kingdom and United States.


PROFESSOR TOMMY KOH

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Professor Tommy Koh is Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Special Adviser of the Institute of Policy Studies, Chairman of the Centre for International Law and Rector of Tembusu College at the National University of Singapore, and Chairman of the SymAsia Foundation of Credit Suisse. He was Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Ambassador to the United States. He was also the Chief Negotiator for the USA-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. He has served as the United Nation Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

PROFESSOR LILY KONG

Singapore Management University

Professor Lily Kong is Provost of the Singapore Management University and Lee Kong Chian Chair Professor of Social Sciences. Previously, she was Provost Chair Professor at the National University of Singapore where she had held numerous leadership positions including Director of the Asia Research Institute, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Vice Provost (Academic Personnel). She has received several international fellowship awards. She serves on various boards and committees, and she is a member of the Singapore Public Service Commission and the United Nations University Council.


PROFESSOR EUSTON QUAH
Head, Division of Economics
Nanyang Technological University

Professor Euston Quah is Head of the Division of Economics and Vice‐Chair of the Sustainable Earth Office at the Nanyang Technological University. He was previously Chairman of the Senate Committee on University Policy Matters and Chair of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He currently serves on the Boards of the Energy Market Company, the Energy Studies Institute at National University of Singapore and the Complaints Committee of the Singapore Medical Council.  He is President of the Economic Society of Singapore and an Elected Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
 

Mr ARUN MAHIZHNAN
Special Research Adviser
Institute of Policy Studies

Mr Arun Mahizhnan is Special Research Adviser at the Institute of Policy Studies and formerly the Deputy Director and Head of the Arts Culture and Media cluster at the institute. His previous positions are in the area of public communications, including Chief Executive Officer of Hill and Knowlton, Public Affairs Manager at Mobile Oil Singapore and Senior Producer at Radio Television Singapore. He is also currently an Adjunct Professor at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at the Nanyang Technological University.
 

Ms QUAH LEY HOON
Chief Editor, English Current Affairs
Mediacorp

Ms Quah Ley Hoon is Chief Editor of the English Current Affairs with Mediacorp. Her team produces weekly English current affairs programmes including Talking Point and On the Red Dot for Channel 5 and Insight, IT Figures, Get Real and Conversation With for Channel NewsAsia. She has a Bachelor degree in psychology from the University of Southern Queensland, an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Pantheon-Sorbonne in France and a Master in Business Administration from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD Business School) in Switzerland.

PROFESSOR ANG PENG HWA
Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information
Nanyang Technological University

Professor Ang Peng Hwa is a faculty member at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. His research focuses on media law and policy and he has consulted on the subject for the governments of Singapore, Thailand and Bhutan. He is a vice-president of the Consumers’ Association of Singapore and legal advisor to the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore. He was previously Chairman of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre.  A lawyer by training, he worked as a journalist before pursuing an academic career in communication and mass media.

Ms MELISSA KWEE
Chief Executive Officer
National Volunteer and Philanthropy Center

Ms Melissa Kwee is Chief Executive Officer of the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre. She was educated at Harvard College and was a Fulbright Scholar to Nepal. She has pioneered service learning programmes in schools as Chairman of the Halogen Foundation. She has also spearheaded anti-trafficking campaigns and developed initiatives to empower migrant workers as President of UN Women Singapore.  She is recipient of Singapore Youth Award 2007 and ASEAN Youth Award 2008. She serves on the boards of Crest Secondary School, Institute of Technical Education and Prison Fellowship International.

Dr JEREMY LIM
Partner and Head, Health & Life Sciences Practice, Asia Pacific
Oliver Wyman

Dr Jeremy Lim is Partner and Head, Health and Life Sciences Practice, Asia Pacific, Oliver Wyman. He has held different senior executive positions in both private and public sector organisations, including in the Ministry of Health. A medical doctor by training, he holds a Masters in public health degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and a Masters in medicine (surgery) from the National University of Singapore. He is author of a book on the Singapore healthcare system. He also writes regularly for newspapers in Singapore. 


ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IRENE NG
Department of Social Work
National University of Singapore

Dr Irene Ng is Associate Professor of Social Work and Director of the Social Service Research Centre at the National University of Singapore. She holds a joint PhD in Social Work and Economics from the University of Michigan. Her research areas include poverty and inequality, inter-generational mobility, youth crime and social welfare policy. She is Executive Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work and Development. She is Principal Investigator of an evaluation of a national work support programme and Co-Principal Investigator of National Youth Surveys 2010 and 2013.
