PROFESSOR ARNOUD DE MEYER
President
Singapore Management University

Professor Arnoud De Meyer is the fourth President of Singapore Management University. He has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, MBA and PhD in Management from the University of Ghent in Belgium. Previously, he was Director of Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. He has held various senior positions at INSEAD including the founding Dean of INSEAD’s Asia Campus in Singapore. He publishes widely in academic journals and books.  He has consulted for organisations in Europe and Asia and serves as board member for various organisations in Singapore.

 

PROFESSOR DAVID CHAN
Director, Behavioural Sciences Institute
Lee Kuan Yew Fellow, Singapore Management University

Professor David Chan is Lee Kuan Yew Fellow, Professor of Psychology and Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute at Singapore Management University, and Adjunct Principal Scientist at A*STAR. He has received numerous international awards on scholarly achievement, innovative research design and scientific contributions in psychology. His works have been cited more than 3000 times in journals and books in various disciplines. He has served as Editor or board member on several journals. He is consultant and board member to various organisations. He is an Elected Fellow of several international psychological associations.


 

PROFESSOR TOMMY KOH
Ambassador-At-Large
Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Professor Tommy Koh is Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Centre for International Law and Rector of Tembusu College at the National University of Singapore. He is the Co-Chairman of the China-Singapore Forum, the India-Singapore Strategic Dialogue and the Japan-Singapore Symposium. He was Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Ambassador to the United States. He was also the Chief Negotiator for the USA‑Singapore Free Trade Agreement.  He has served as the United Nation Secretary‑General’s Special Envoy to Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Ms Debra Soon is Managing Director of Channel NewsAsia at Mediacorp Pte Ltd. She also oversees Corporate Communications and Marketing for the MediaCorp group. She started her journalism career as a broadcast journalist and became Executive Editor and then Chief Editor of MediaCorp News. She served as President-elect SR Nathan’s Press Secretary during the 2005 Singapore Presidential Elections. She has served as a member on several national councils and committees in Singapore.  She currently serves as an Exco-Member of United Nation Women Singapore and a volunteer mentor for Board Agender.


 

MR HAN FOOK KWANG
Managing Editor (English and Malay Newspapers)
Singapore Press Holdings Ltd

Mr Han Fook Kwang is Managing Editor (English & Malay Newspapers) at Singapore Press Holdings Ltd and Chairman of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, which provides financial assistance to needy students. He started his career as an officer in the Singapore Civil Service and had served 10 years in the Administrative Service before joining The Straits Times as leader writer in 1989. He serves as a board member for National Environment Agency, Building Construction Authority and National University of Singapore. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM).

 

MR GERARD EE
Chairman
Council for Third Age & Public Tranport Council

Mr Gerard Ee is Chairman of the Council for Third Age and the Public Transport Council. He was President of the National Council of Social Services and Chairman of the Medifund Advisory Council, Bizlink Centre and National Kidney Foundation. He was an accountant and practising auditor before retiring as a partner of Ernst & Young in 2005. He has been active in the field of social service throughout his professional life as an accountant. He was a member of the Task Force which helped establish the Code on Religious Harmony.


 

MR LAURENCE LIEN
CEO, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre
Nominated Member of Parliament

Mr Laurence Lien is the CEO of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. He is also Chairman of Lien Foundation, the Community Foundation of Singapore, Deputy Chairman of Caritas Singapore Community Council, and Board Member of the Centre for Non-Profit Leadership and the Lien Centre for Social Innovation at the Singapore Management University. He is currently a Nominated Member of Parliament, advocating for the social sector and civil society. He started his career as an officer in the Singapore Civil Service and had served 14 years with the Administrative Service.


 

PROFESSOR HENG CHYE KIANG 
Dean, School of Design & Environment
National University of Singapore

Professor Heng Chye Kiang is Dean of the School of Design and Environment at National University of Singapore. His research areas include areas of sustainable cities, urban design, heritage and history of Chinese cities. He has published numerous journal articles and several books in these areas.  He has served on editorial boards of several journals. He is consultant to many award-winning urban planning and design projects in Asia. He is a board member for several organisations in Singapore.  He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) and Public Service Medal (PBM).



MS ANG BEE LIAN
Director of Social Welfare
Ministry of Social & Family Development

Ms Ang Bee Lian is Director of Social Welfare at Ministry of Social and Family Development. Her role includes providing independent views and advice on the standards of social work practice and the professional development of practitioners in the social service sector. She has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Council of Social Service. She was a member of the 2010 Censorship Review Committee and she currently serves as a member of the Films Appeal Committee. In 2000, she received the Outstanding Social Worker Award in Singapore.


 

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR TAN ERN SER
Head, Social Lab
Institute of Policy Studies

Dr Tan Ern Ser is Head of the Social Lab at the Institute of Policy Studies and Associate Professor of Sociology at the National University of Singapore. His research interests include social stratification, politics and democracy, welfare policy and ethnic relations. He has served as a consultant for several national social surveys on issues related to values and attitudes, national orientations and social stratification in Singapore. He is a member of the Research Advisory Panel for the Housing Development Board. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2013.


 

DR JEREMY LIM
Partner, Health & Life Sciences Practice
Oliver Wyman

Dr Jeremy Lim is Partner, Oliver Wyman and Head of the Health and Life Sciences Asia Pacific. He has held different senior positions in the public and private sectors in Singapore and served as a consultant to several multi-national organisations. He has taught as an adjunct faculty at the Singapore Management University and the National University of Singapore and authored a book on the Singapore health system. He is President of the Fulbright Association (Singapore) and a member on the International Advisory Board for the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi.


 

DR SUDHA NAIR
Executive Director
PAVE

Dr Sudha Nair is Executive Director of PAVE. She is a practising social worker and she was a faculty for 10 years at the National University of Singapore teaching social work. She is a trainer with the Police Training Command on issues in working with interpersonal violence. She currently leads a team in a pilot programme working with vulnerable families living in interim rental housing in Singapore. Her research interests include community-based family services, community development issues and social policies related to low-income families.
