Integrating Safety and Health is Key to Business Excellence: A Holistic Approach Helps to Keep Employees Safe and Healthy at Work

Commenting on how to integrate safety and health in business, SMU Behavioural Sciences Institute Director Professor David Chan said: "Leadership influences how employees think, feel and behave about safety and health. For [Workplace Safety and Health (WSH)] efforts to be effective, leadership commitment, both actual and perceived, is critical. Employers need to adopt an employee-centric approach to WSH and treat WSH as part of its core business and organisational strategy. Employers and employees need to work together to understand the work conditions and develop an organisational climate in which all members believe in the core value of WSH and share a mental model of good WSH practices".
